STUDIO CITY 🚀 LOCAL KITCHENS

  • Local Kitchens, the popular digital food hall concept featuring a rotating lineup of local and regional restaurants, is set to open its newest outpost in Studio City tomorrow. Located on Main Street, the micro food hall will bring together LA favorites like Howlin’ Ray’s, Afters Ice Cream, and Sweetfin under one roof, with counter service, pickup, and delivery all available through its app. This marks the brand’s first official Los Angeles location following successful launches in Northern California and Orange County.

SAWTELLE 🍣 DARUMA

  • Daruma recently opened as a virtual brand on La Grange Avenue in Sawtelle, just steps away from the Boulevard’s main strip. While the entrance is tucked away, the menu delivers familiar comfort in that of bento boxes, rice bowls like yakiniku, and sushi rolls, including a well-reviewed spicy tuna. This Japanese eatery is open primarily for delivery or pick-up for both lunch and dinner, but does have outside seating that can accommodate eight.

BOX OFFICE 🍿 WEEKEND REVIEW

SOCIAL MEDIA 📺 COMING TO TV

  • TikTok and Instagram are developing new smart TV apps in a bid to compete with YouTube, which now leads US streaming viewership with a 12.4% share. With horizontal, long-form content already being promoted, the shift signals a major move to capture older viewers and premium advertisers by turning living rooms into the next battleground for social video.

THE SOCIAL NETWORK 💻 CONFIRMED WITH SORKIN

  • Aaron Sorkin is set to write and direct a sequel to The Social Network for Sony, inspired by The Facebook Files’ WSJ articles exploring the social network’s harms. The original film, directed by David Fincher, earned eight Oscar nominations and three wins, including Sorkin’s adapted screenplay. Jesse Eisenberg’s return as Mark Zuckerberg remains unconfirmed. The sequel, produced by Sorkin and others, follows Sorkin’s criticism of Facebook’s focus on growth over integrity, aiming to continue the story behind one of tech’s most influential and controversial companies.
